Why decide between sweet and savory if you don't have to? Our couscous packs protein from our veggie chicken, savory crunch from almonds, and chewy sweetness from apricots — this is one of our favorite meals on or off the trail.

Instructions: Empty contents of package into separate bowl or mug. Boil 10 ounces water (about 1.25 cups); combine boiling water with package contents. Cover. Allow to rehydrate approximately 5 minutes. More water may be added to achieve desired consistency. Eat! Enjoy! Adventure! *Recipes tested in Boulder, Colorado. Unique combination

I'll admit, I was a little hesitant to try this meal. I am not usually a fan of sweet and savory mixes. But the flavor combo here is just right! The apricots are not overly sweet, and the TVP "chicken" adds a nice texture. I was also impressed that the couscous rehydrated into actual, separate grains, as opposed to a gluey mess. Here's to hoping Trailfork develops some new flavor combos in the future!

    So good!

I am normally not a huge couscous person, but I ADORED this meal on our last trip to the Tetons. After a long day of hiking, it absolutely hit the spot. It's so hard to find decent veggie backpacking food but this company knows what's up--the flavors are balanced and you still get enough protein to push through a big hiking day without bonking.
