Creamy coconut, hearty chickpeas, and mild garam masala spices—this Coconut Chana Masala is one of our favorite trail meals. Whole grains and healthy fats make for a filling end to a day on the trail for vegans, the gluten-averse, and hungry hikers everywhere.

Instructions: Empty contents of package into separate bowl or mug. Boil 10 ounces water (about 1.25 cups); combine boiling water with package contents. Cover. Allow to rehydrate approximately 20 minutes. More water may be added to achieve desired consistency. Eat! Enjoy! Adventure! *Recipes tested in Boulder, Colorado. Food may take longer to rehydrate above 5430’.

    Okay so every pre-made backpacking meal I've ever encountered has been a total salt BOMB which always makes it even harder to stay hydrated on the trail. This stuff is awesome and flavorful (you can taste coconut and Indian spices) without drowning you in sodium. Also you can actually see real ingredients which is always nice--not just a bowl of glop. Would get this again in a heartbeat.
